Emily J. Buchbinder focuses her legal practice on estate
planning, assisting individuals and couples with estates of all sizes. Her
services include creating trusts, wills, durable powers of attorney, and
advance health care directives. She also has significant experience in probate
matters, trust and estate administration, business law, and tax-related issues.
Emily holds certifications and degrees from UC Berkeley, Brown University, the
Defense Language Institute (Japanese), Monterey College of Law, and Golden Gate
University, where she earned an LL.M. in Taxation. She is a Certified
Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust & Probate Law, recognized by the
California Bar Association Board of Legal Specialization, and holds an AV Preeminent
rating from Martindale-Hubbell.
Emily serves as Chairperson of the Santa Cruz County Bar
Estate Planning Council and has previously been a board member for the
Community Foundation of Santa Cruz County, the Santa Cruz Cancer Benefit Group,
and Habitat for Humanity. Before establishing her own practice, she gained
experience at Bosso Williams, the Grunsky Law Firm, and Deloitte Tax. A
sought-after speaker on estate planning and taxation, Emily has presented for
organizations such as the Community Foundation of Santa Cruz County, UC Santa Cruz
Planned Giving, CalCPA, and the Rotary Foundation.
