Frederick A. Erben, a Birmingham native, has dedicated
five decades to the legal profession, shaping the practice of law in
Alabama. After earning a Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of
Alabama in 1963, he obtained his Juris Doctor from the Cumberland School of Law
at Samford University in 1966. Upon admission to the Alabama State Bar that
same year, Mr. Erben joined the esteemed firm of Beddow & Beddow, working
alongside legendary criminal defense attorney Roderick Beddow, Sr., and future
Alabama Supreme Court Justice T. Eric Embry.
As senior partner of Beddow, Erben, Bowen & Wales, P.C., Mr. Erben has been
instrumental in expanding the firm’s practice areas to include divorce, family
law, and civil litigation, while maintaining its legacy of excellence in
criminal defense. His career is marked by involvement in landmark cases that
have set legal precedents in both criminal and domestic relations law.
A dedicated member of the Alabama and Birmingham Bar Associations, Mr. Erben
has served on key committees, including the Grievance and Ethics Committee and
the Alabama State Bar Fee Arbitration Committee, reflecting his commitment to
upholding the highest standards of professional ethics and client advocacy.
