Biography

Ms. Harrison is lead counsel for the women of Riot Games in their equal pay class action and secured a $100 million settlement plus major workplace reforms after substituting into the litigation when class representatives became dissatisfied with an announced $10 million settlement proposal. (McCracken et al. v. Riot Games Inc., 18STCV03957 (L.A. Super. Ct., filed Nov. 6, 2018). Ms. Harrison was also counsel for Harvey Weinstein’s personal assistant in her sexual harassment case and for other women against Weinstein, and was part of the team of lawyers who secured a $17 million recovery for Weinstein’s victims despite The Weinstein Company’s bankruptcy.

In November 2022, the Consumer Attorneys of California (CAOC) gave Ms. Harrison its 2022 Consumer Attorney of the Year award for her work representing Harvey Weinstein’s sexual harassment and sexual assault victims.

Also in 2022, the California Employment Lawyers Association awarded Genie Harrison its highest honor, the 2022 Joe Posner Award, for her devotion to obtaining justice for Californians and for creating a virtual Mandatory Settlement Conference system, Resolve Law Los Angeles, for the Los Angeles County Superior Court.

Ms. Harrison founded the Genie Harrison Law Firm, APC, in 2013 with a nearly all-woman roster of attorneys and staff to deliver justice for the firm’s clients in their employment and sexual abuse claims.

In 2019, she launched her Damages Genie App, designed to provide plaintiffs an effective method to communicate emotional distress information to their counsel, and assist plaintiff attorneys in effectively telling the stories of their clients’ emotional distress experiences.

Genie Harrison has been named to the Southern California Super Lawyers List in Plaintiff’s Employment litigation for eighteen years in a row (2009-2026), for which only 5% of all attorneys in the state qualify in any single year. As a testament to her expertise, Genie has also been listed on the Top 10 Southern California Super Lawyers, Top 100 Southern California Super Lawyers, and Top 50 Women Southern California Super Lawyers for eleven straight years (2016-2026).

In addition, Genie has been named one of the state’s Top Labor & Employment Lawyers for twelve years by the Daily Journal, and recognized as one of the Top Women Lawyers and Top 100 Lawyers in California across all categories of law.

Genie has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America since 2012, as has her law firm, for her work in Plaintiff’s Employment Litigation. In 2022, Best Lawyers named her Attorney of the Year in the area of employment litigation. Genie has been recognized by Lawdragon as one of the Top 500 Employment Lawyers in the Country since 2018.

Genie gives back each year by teaching litigation and trial skills to other lawyers through her volunteer work on boards and committees of various trial lawyer organizations, and through publishing articles locally and nationally. Besides publishing articles for leading attorney resources, Genie has been a monthly columnist for Ms. Magazine.

In January 2021, Ms. Harrison became President of CAALA – the fifth female president of the organization in its 72nd Anniversary year. She has served on the Board of Governors since 2008 and has co-chaired then chaired CAALA’s Education Committee and its Annual Las Vegas Convention for three years.
