Biography

Harold O. Atencio is a native of New Mexico, Graduated from the University of New Mexico Cum Laude in General Honors in 1985; and obtained his Juris Doctorate from the University of New Mexico in 1988. He was admitted to the New Mexico Bar in 1988.

Mr. Atencio is a fellow of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys, a member of The Adoption and Foster Care Alliance of New Mexico. He is the former President of The Adoption and Foster Care Alliance of New Mexico, and past Chair of its Legislative Committee.

Harold O. Atencio is a member of the National Network of Estate Planning Attorneys and the past Chair of the New Mexico Forum.

Mr. Atencio is a former Insurance Defense Attorney, during which time he litigated cases on a frequent basis.

Hal is also an avid runner, having completed 15 marathons (3:14 best time) and many 10k runs (39:30 Personal Record). He was also the Race Director for the 2005 Albuquerque Tricentennial 1/2 Marathon.
