About Attorney Awards

Biography

Helene Bernstein has been a fixture in the Brooklyn legal community since 1995, operating her practice in the heart of Prospect Heights near the Barclays Center. What really sets Helene apart is her versatility; she is equally skilled as a mediator, a collaborative attorney, and a seasoned litigator. She actually started her career as a prosecutor for the Administration for Children’s Services, which gave her a deep, firsthand understanding of the court system and the importance of protecting children in high-conflict cases. While she’s a powerhouse in the courtroom, her primary goal is to help families resolve disputes through mediation to avoid the stress of a trial. Her expertise is so well-regarded that she was named a 2024 Super Lawyer and currently serves as the President of the Family Divorce Mediation Council of Greater New York. Whether she’s handling a complex appeal or a straightforward prenuptial agreement, Helene offers the kind of sophisticated, personalized guidance that only comes from decades of experience. She’s also incredibly flexible, offering both in-person and video consultations to make sure her clients get the support they need on their own terms.
