Biography

Jeff Thompson is the Managing Partner at Alvarez, Thompson & Smoak, P.A.. Jeff has been representing clients in Florida’s courts for over 30 years. His practice focuses on the handling of the defense of complex civil cases involving commercial transportation, business disputes, first-party property insurance defense/homeowners claims, construction defect, health care and premises liability claims, as well as all cases involving all aspects of personal injury and wrongful death. A strong background in public speaking has led many organizations to request Jeff as a speaker. He is often asked to speak on a variety of issues, such as tort reform, liability trends and legislative and regulatory implications in Florida. Companies have come to rely on Jeff’s pragmatic approach to handling issues, “Mistakes can have big financial consequences and protecting clients to the very best of my ability is my number-one priority.” A voice of reason in the complex realm of law, current and prospective clients can always expect a healthy dose of truth and honesty. “Once I assess an issue, I will be completely up-front with the client, making sure they are kept up-to-date throughout the matter at hand, and making myself available to them 24/7.” Jeff has tried many cases involving wrongful death, quadriplegia, brain injury and other serious injuries to verdict in Florida. Jeff is a proud member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). ABOTA membership is extended by invitation only to experienced trial lawyers who have demonstrated exceptional skill, professionalism, and integrity in the courtroom.
