John A. Mennie

John A. Mennie is a Partner at Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard who has recovered more than $250 million for injured people and grieving families across Illinois. He joined the firm in 2014 and focuses his practice on catastrophic personal injury, medical negligence, and wrongful death.

In 2026, Mr. Mennie secured a $21 million settlement for a newborn who suffered a permanent brain injury caused by medical negligence at birth. Months earlier, he served on the trial team that won a $52 million jury verdict for the family of an 88-year-old man killed in a multi-vehicle crash in Stockton, Illinois, a collision that also left his adult son seriously injured. He has also resolved an $18.5 million claim for a child left with a serious brain injury after a delay in the diagnosis and treatment of meningitis.

He has been trying cases since his earliest days at the firm. In his first trial with Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard, Mr. Mennie won a $1.6 million wrongful death verdict, the highest recorded verdict in Stephenson County. He received a Trial Lawyer Excellence Award from Law Bulletin Media for the result.

Most of Mr. Mennie’s clients come to him at the worst moment of their lives, after a death or an injury that changes how a family will live from that day forward. He explains what is happening in plain language, answers the questions clients are afraid to ask, and builds every case as though it will be tried, because the cases that resolve well are the ones the other side knows are ready for a jury. He brings the same preparation to the people he works alongside and is as invested in a younger attorney’s first depositions as he is in his own.

Before joining Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard, Mr. Mennie clerked at a prominent plaintiffs’ personal injury firm, where he worked on medical negligence, product liability, and whistleblower cases. He earned his law degree cum laude from Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 2012, and graduated cum laude from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, in 2007.

In his free time, Mr. Mennie enjoys golfing, reading, baking, and cooking.
