Biography

Joseph Carey, our principal attorney, has lived in Maryland his entire life. He grew up in a small town in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Joe’s drive to help the people of his community drew him toward pursuing a career in law from a young age. Shortly after entering high school, his best friend began using drugs, which ultimately took his life. This made Joe realize that he wanted to do more than just help people with legal matters; he wanted to help them improve their lives. With this goal in mind, he became the first in his family to attend college, graduating with highest honors from University of Maryland, College Park. He then graduated from the University of Maryland School of Law with honors. Shortly afterward, he opened his own law firm near the town where he grew up, trying cases throughout Maryland. Now, over 30 years later, he still represents clients all over the state, from the DC suburbs all the way out to the Eastern shore. Joe’s experience has earned him a reputation as a highly experienced trial attorney, admitted to practice and having defended thousands of clients before all Maryland Trial Courts, Appellate Courts, and even the Supreme Court of the United States.Joe’s accomplishments have not gone unnoticed. He has repeatedly been recognized as one of the best 100 lawyers in the country; the popular attorney rating website Avvo has awarded him the Superb rating; and he has received the highest ethical and professional rating: an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubble, the country’s oldest lawyer evaluation organization. Despite his success, Joe hasn’t lost sight of why he became a lawyer in the first place. His ambition to help people in a meaningful way emboldens him to fight tirelessly for his clients.

    Lawyer response:

It is with great pride and satisfaction that I accept an AV rating from Martindale-Hubble as I have worked hard to maintain the highest standards as I have practiced law over the past 33 years. I believe that it is vitally important to remain up to date in the changes in the law and remain active in the practicing Bar. I am always honored to represent my clients and believe that each one deserves nothing less than my best efforts as their lawyer.
