Biography

Kathryn “Kat” Brockett is an associate in the Atlanta office, where she focuses her practice on aging services, business transactions, and health care matters.

Before joining the firm, Kat gained diverse legal experience through judicial, clinical, and policy-based roles. As a judicial intern for the Honorable Deah B. Warren in the Superior Court of Douglas County, she prepared bench memoranda and drafted judicial orders in domestic, criminal, and civil matters, including adoptions, equitable partitions, and child support modifications. She also developed a public resource guide to assist self-represented litigants in civil and domestic proceedings.

During law school, Kat served as a student attorney in Emory Law’s Barton Child Law and Policy Clinic, where she researched national child welfare impact litigation and created public reports on active consent decrees. She also completed a legal internship with Voices for Georgia’s Children through Emory’s Summer Child Advocacy Program, conducting legal and policy research and drafting briefs on juvenile justice health care issues.

Kat earned her Juris Doctor from Emory University School of Law, where she was a member of the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers and served as director of competition logistics for the Emory Moot Court Society. She also represented Emory on the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Team. She received her Bachelor of Arts, cum laude , in Media Communication Studies from Florida State University, with minors in French and Psychology.
