Biography

Kristi Wells’practice focuses exclusively on domestic relations issues with an emphasis on complex issues such as trusts, pre-marital agreements, closely held business interests, taxation, benefits and executive compensation. Kristi has written and lectured extensively on family law topics as well as having been a tax commentator for NPR’s Morning Edition. Most recently, Kristi published a two-part article for the Colorado Lawyer entitled A Primer on Executive Compensation in a Colorado Divorce – Parts 1 and 2, May and June 2022. She also co-authored The Executive Compensation Handbook: Stock Option Awards, Restricted Stock Grants, Cash Bonuses, Incentives and Other Non-qualified Deferred Compensation in Divorce, published by the American Bar Association. Kristi currently serves as Chair of the Family Law Section Executive Council.

    Kristi is a very pleasant and cordial attorney. However, she changed her area of practice to domestic relations a few years ago and, thus, is not extremely experienced in her new chosen area of specialty.

    Lawyer response:

    I moved to family law over five years ago. My prior experience in the area of benefits and executive compensation has been extremely helpful in this practice as it provides me with knowledge regarding assets that exist in many high-asset divorces.
