Leonard R. Higdon

Leonard is an immensely experienced and dedicated litigator. Originally from Hawaii, he moved to Colorado in 1985 to attend Fort Lewis College in Durango, where he received his B.A. in Philosophy and Political Science in 1991. He later earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Denver in 1997. He is licensed to practice before all Colorado Courts, the United States District Court, and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. Leonard is a very experienced courtroom litigator, giving him invaluable insights and ability to assist his clients in navigating to fair resolutions, avoiding litigated outcomes where possible. However, when matters must be tried, he possesses the command of the law, and courtroom skills, necessary to protect your interests. Leonard has litigated at all levels of Colorado state courts, including the Colorado Court of Appeals, Colorado Supreme Court, as well as matters before the federal courts. Leonard has even been engaged to litigate complex family law matters in jurisdictions outside the Colorado where matters required sophisticated grasp of family dynamics and law. In addition, Leonard has been certified as an expert concerning aspects of Family Law litigation related reasonableness of fees and costs.

He is member of the Colorado Bar Association, Arapahoe County Bar Association, Metro Denver Interdisciplinary Committee, American Association of Conciliation Courts and sits on the executive council of the Minoru Yasui American Inn of Court. Leonard also provides valuable service as a volunteer for the Arapahoe County Bar Association pro se clinic, offering assistance to unrepresented litigants. Outside of his career in the law, Leonard enjoys spending time with his family and service to the community. His "other life" is spent in the serious practice and study of traditional karate, where he holds a 7th degree black belt with the prestigious Japan Karate Association. Leonard was a long time national competitor and continues with training and instructing.
