Biography

Lex R. Smith represents clients in commercial litigation in federal and state courts, including class action litigation, antitrust, mergers and acquisitions, contractual and other commercial disputes, copyright and intellectual property. He counsels clients on competition issues, including pricing, distribution, mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and other business transactions. Mr. Smith has also represented clients in dealing with the Antitrust Division of the United States Department of Justice, the State of Hawaii Office of Attorney General, grand jury, and other investigations. He has a substantial appellate practice, having argued numerous cases before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit as well as the appellate courts of the State of Hawaii.

Education

Mr. Smith received a bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Berkeley, and his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.
