Michael Begey concentrates his practice in the areas of product liability, commercial litigation, and general casualty litigation. He represents clients in industries which include material handling equipment, heavy industrial and agricultural equipment, automotive, trucking, consumer products, medical devices, and insurance.
A significant portion of Michael’s practice is dedicated to product liability defense. Michael represents several manufacturers in the material handling equipment and heavy industrial and agricultural equipment fields, defending catastrophic injury claims brought against a myriad of products ranging from lift trucks and skid steer loaders to horizontal directional drills and stump grinders. Michael has also successfully defended other products including in the aviation, medical device, motorcycle helmet, and consumer product fields. In addition to the defense of individual product claims, he has also participated in the defense of nationwide class actions for several product manufacturers.
Michael also represents automotive, truck and bus manufacturers and component part suppliers in cases involving components and systems which include, just to identify a few, emissions, seat belts and occupant restraints, airbags, door latches, window glazing, padding, suspension systems, seat backs, and roofs.
In addition to his significant product liability practice, Michael represents clients in diverse commercial areas such as franchise disputes, trade secret misappropriation litigation, product purchase agreement disputes, and financial and contractual matters. He also oversees a team in the defense of general casualty matters for several insurance companies and self-insured businesses.
Regardless of the nature of the case, Michael has a proven track record of delivering strong results for the client and has been an integral part of the RumbergerKirk litigation practice for nearly 30 years.
