Mr. Charles J. Boykin

Charles J. Boykin is Of Counsel with the law firm of Boykin Davis & Smiley. Charles received his Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Benedict College and both his Masters of Public Administration and Juris Doctorate degrees from the University of South Carolina.

Prior to attending law school, Charles worked in public administration with the City of Anderson and Clemson University. Charles is certified by the Board of Arbitrator and Mediator Certification under the South Carolina Supreme Court and was the 2002 recipient of the Compleat Lawyer Award from the Alumni Association of the University of South Carolina School of Law.

Charles practices in all areas of education law, with an emphasis on board/superintendent relations, personnel, employment and labor, higher education, local government, construction, and civil rights. He has extensive trial experience and has practiced before all State and federal courts in South Carolina.

Charles was born in Sumter, and grew up in Sumter, South Carolina. He resides in Columbia, South Carolina with his wife, Brenda. They have two adult children. Charles enjoys photography, archery and spending time with his family.
