Biography

Cody Cofer is a partner at Cofer Luster Criminal Defense Lawyers, Board Certified in Criminal Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 2013, with recertifications in 2018 and 2023. Before practicing as a criminal defense attorney in Texas, Cofer prosecuted both adult and juvenile misdemeanor and felony cases. As a Fort Worth defense attorney, he has successfully represented hundreds of clients in both state and federal courts. His experience includes service as an Assistant Federal Public Defender in the Northern District of Texas, providing valuable insight and determination in defending clients against governmental charges. Cofer’s trial experience spans a wide range of criminal cases, including sex trafficking, drug conspiracy, murder, theft, DWI, and white-collar crimes, and he has argued appeals in state and federal courts, such as the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, Fort Worth Second Court of Appeals, and the Fifth Circuit Federal Court of Appeals.

Outside his practice, Cofer enjoys hiking with his family, coaching youth sports, training for powerlifting competitions, and reading. He is committed to personal growth and credits his family and a balanced life with making him a better attorney.
