John J. Goran is Managing Partner at Hall Booth Smith’s Miami Office. In his more than 25 years of practicing law he has litigated and tried cases throughout the state of Florida. His primary areas of practice have been in the areas of medical malpractice, pharmaceutical litigation, general liability, products liability, and assorted transportation cases.
Through the years he has defended hospitals, physicians, assorted health care professionals, and insureds, including Fortune 200 companies. He has defended pharmacies throughout the state of Florida involving complex issues related to compounding and aseptic techniques.
Amongst his peers he is recognized as an AV Preeminent Peer Review Rated attorney. John completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Miami and his legal studies at St. Thomas University. In 2006 he was appointed by the Miami-Dade County Commissioners as a member of the Educational Facilities Authority. He currently serves as the Vice-Chairman of the Committee. Additionally, John is proficient in Spanish.
Experience
General Liability
John has litigated and tried many types of general negligence claims on behalf of business owners, Fortune 200 companies, and many other national retail chains. Included in these types of claims include general negligence claims, premises liability, and dram shop litigation.
Medical Malpractice
For roughly twenty years John has been defending hospitals, pediatric facilities, long-term care facilities, and physicians (in areas of internal medicine, pulmonology, cardiology, dentistry, oncology and genetics, among many others). Some of the areas of medical negligence claims he has defended include birth-related claims, radiology claims, traumatic brain injury, critical care, and emergency treatment. In addition, John has defended health care professionals in regards to various licensing issues before governmental agencies.
Products Liability
Throughout his career John has defended an assortment of products liability claims, including matters relating to medicine and medical equipment, among other fields.
Transportation
Throughout Florida, John has defended trucking companies, private bus companies, and other commercial carriers in negligence claims and multi-vehicle accidents. Much of this work has been for Fortune 500 companies.
