Steve Bowden’s journey is a classic story of hard work and North Carolina pride. Growing up in Liberty and attending public schools, he became the first in his family to earn a secondary degree. At Wake Forest University, he wasn't just a student; he was a standout athlete, playing on the school’s first championship football team and earning All-ACC honors. After a brief stint teaching, Steve joined the inaugural graduating class of Campbell University’s law school, setting the stage for a distinguished career in personal injury and workers’ compensation law. Today, he leads R. Steve Bowden & Associates alongside his wife, Carlyn, who manages the firm, and his daughter, Jennifer, who practices as an attorney by his side. Steve’s practice is built on a foundation of service, evidenced by his long list of accolades, including the prestigious Order of the Long Leaf Pine and the John B. McMillan Distinguished Service Award. He has served on numerous boards, from the UNC Board of Governors to the NAACP, reflecting a deep commitment to justice and education. Whether he’s in the courtroom or serving as a mentor, Steve brings the same competitive spirit and dedication he learned on the football field to every client he represents, earning him a spot among the Top 100 Trial Lawyers for over a decade.
