Biography

Richard, who served as general counsel to legendary New York Yankee owner, George M. Steinbrenner, moved to Southwest Florida in January 1998. He gained valuable experience with Cummings & Lockwood and Bond and Schoeneck & King law firms, before joining his father to form Lyons & Lyons, P.A. in 2003.

Richard’s Juris Doctor and Masters of Business Administration degrees from the University of Florida and his Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Business Transactions degree from the University of Alabama provide the educational base for Richard to counsel his clients in all aspects of business and transactional matters.

Accordingly, such specialized knowledge allows Richard to serve the needs of business owners and professionals throughout the life cycle of a business venture, including the formation and choice of business entity, financing in the growth phase, possible reorganizations and mergers for maturing businesses, and the law effecting succession and dissolution.

Whether working directly with a young professional beginning a career by joining a firm or starting their own company– or helping established businesses structure their corporate framework to withstand the volatile winds of market forces and changing taxation–Richard is able to guide individuals, new businesses and established corporations to properly plan for growth and protect assets.

His experience in business setup and succession, estate planning, governing and tax laws regarding partnerships and corporations, his performance in the areas of residential and commercial real estate enable Richard to assist his clients in making informed decisions and thus stronger managers. This focus on empowering clients to better understand the legal consequences and benefits of their decisions along with the ability to truly appreciate his client’s visions and dreams have earned Richard a Martindale-Hubbell Client Distinction Award.
