Mr. Sean Joseph Umipig: Attorney with SMITH LC

Biography

Sean’s path to becoming an attorney started in college. As a legal intern for the Office of the Alternate Public Defender in San Diego County, the lead attorney asked for a memorandum regarding the potential harm that could be caused by a particular airsoft gun because the client was charged with bringing a deadly weapon onto school grounds.

After several phone calls with retailers across the nation and correspondence with the manufacturer, the memo was prepared. The lead attorney was so impressed with the work product that she asked Sean to present the findings to the assigned judge. The judge was equally impressed with Sean’s memo and presentation that he encouraged Sean to pursue a career in law. The rest, so to speak, is history.

Sean has experience in disability rights, fair housing discrimination, as well as creditor’s rights. Sean has achieved favorable rulings for his clients through oral argument and at trial. In addition, Sean obtained a ruling in favor for his client from the Utah Court of Appeals. Sean’s appellee brief was instrumental to his client’s success.

Sean’s keen attention to detail ensures that he is prepared for any issue that may arise.
