SMITH LC was founded in 1987 by Steven Smith, with John Clifford and Douglas Campbell joining the firm in 1997. Richard Thomas, Stephanie Alexander, and Stephen Biggs subsequently joined the firm as shareholders, and the firm opened new offices were opened in Arizona, Utah, and Wyoming.

The firm’s growth has continued into 2021 with an expanded firm presence in Utah and the addition of new shareholder Aaron Harris.
