Biography

Amanda is not only a personal injury attorney, she is also an expert in construction law. This unique background gives her specialized expertise in cases involving roadway design and construction issues. Prior to joining Baggett Law Personal Injury Lawyers, Amanda spent many years working as defense counsel for engineers and contractors in personal injury and wrongful death cases arising from car accidents on Florida roadways.

Amanda is a leading female attorney in Northeast Florida. A longtime advocate of women’s rights and advancement, she is a member of the Jacksonville Association of Women Lawyers and the Florida Association of Women Lawyers.

Amanda received an AV Preeminent rating by Martindale-Hubbell, an honor given to only 10% of all attorneys. She has been named to the Super Lawyers List every year since 2009, and repeatedly recognized for excellence in her profession by Florida Trend Magazine. Amanda is Board Certified in Construction Law by The Florida Bar.

Locally, Amanda has served on various boards and committees, including the Jacksonville Bar Association’s Construction Law Committee, the Fourth Judicial Circuit’s Unlicensed Practice of Law Committee, the Early Learning Coalition of Duval, Jacksonville Country Day School and Deermeadows Preschool.

Background

Amanda was born in Hannibal, Missouri, and grew up near Atlanta in Marietta, Georgia. She attended the University of Georgia, where she earned a degree in advertising. In 2003 she earned her law degree at Mercer University. During law school, Amanda also attended classes at the University of Florida’s Levin College of Law and the University of Notre Dame’s London Law Centre. Prior to joining Baggett Law Personal Injury Lawyers in 2015, Amanda was a partner at Rogers Towers, Jacksonville’s oldest and largest law firm.

Amanda and Matt have four children, including a set of twins. When not advocating for her clients, Amanda can be found planning her family’s next road trip. Amanda is also an avid runner and Peloton enthusiast.

Reported Cases:
Representative Matters: Defense counsel for national engineering firm in various lawsuits concerning design, inspection and project administration issues. Notable cases include multi-party wrongful death lawsuit following fatal accident involving drunk driver in construction zone and litigation over construction of runway at Pensacola Airport. Successfully achieved dismissal or favorable settlement on all cases involved in and concluded to date. Defense counsel for CEI subconsultant in case involving large-scale FDOT project, claims for professional negligence and damages totaling more than $111 million. Achieved favorable settlement following filing of complex motions for summary judgment. Lead counsel for local engineering firm on risk management and business matters including preparation, review and negotiation of contracts, lien issues and collection matters. Defense counsel for national engineering firm on multi-party case involving claims of personal injury and wrongful death arising from accident at wastewater treatment facility. Obtained favorable settlement prior to trial. Lead counsel for local contractor in various construction and property-related lawsuits and claims, including arbitration victory in hotly-contested case brought by foreign purchaser alleging various theories of fraud, including claim based on Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act.
