Biography

Sherrille “Sherri” D. Bailey Akin brings more than three decades of experience to clients who need steady guidance and strong results. A DeLand native, Sherri is widely respected for her ability to step into difficult situations and “fix” what’s gone wrong—or “find” the right path forward. Her work centers on estate planning, probate administration, contested estates, guardianships, and family law matters. Sherri’s legal roots run deep. Her father, T. Wayne Bailey, helped shape the Stetson community as a professor and leader, and his example inspired her to pursue the profession. She didn’t wait to begin—at 14 she joined the office of local attorney Bill Sherman, where she learned the basics of practice and client care. She later worked as a paralegal through college and clerked through law school. Sherri earned her B.A. in Political Science from Stetson University, her J.D., cum laude, from Stetson University College of Law, and an LL.M. in taxation from the University of Florida. She also clerked for the U.S. Tax Court in Washington, D.C. Licensed in Florida and Ohio, she is especially well-suited for high net worth planning, tax-focused strategies, and asset protection for families with ties to both states.
