Travis is an experienced trial attorney who has served as a special civil prosecutor for the City of Great Falls, a special prosecutor for the Cascade County Attorney's Office, and a designated substitute Judge. Travis has tried cases in Municipal Courts, Justice Courts, Montana District Courts, and Federal Trial Courts as well as appearing in the Montana Supreme Court and the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.
Throughout his career Travis has been committed to volunteering legal time to help his community and citizens of modest means. In 2009, he was awarded the Honorable Judge Robert P. Goff Pro-Bono Award for his outstanding service to citizens who would otherwise have no access to the civil justice system.
Travis has always been devoted to serving the public and his profession by accepting positions as a board member of the Cascade County Law Clinic, the Montana State Bar New Lawyer Section’s President, the Cascade County Bar Associations’ Treasure, as well as many different ABA/GP Solo leadership positions.
Over the years Travis has also dedicated himself to helping children who are in foster care and educating judges and social workers on ways to improve children advocacy. In 2016, the American Bar Association published a book Travis authored titled: Child Abuse and Neglect Cases, a Comprehensive Guide to Understanding the System.
