Guardianship and Conservatorship in St. Charles, MO

The legal system recognizes that minor children and some adults are unable to protect their own self-interests and care for themselves. A conservator (sometimes known as an "adult guardian") is a court-appointed position responsible for managing the legal and financial affairs of an adult who is unable to manage these issues on his or her own. (A conservatorship may be necessary if an adult has not created advance directives, such as a healthcare power of attorney and living will.) A personal guardian is an adult who has been appointed to care for and raise a minor child. And a guardian ad litem is a court-appointed attorney who is responsible for advocating for another person during court proceedings. Guardianship and conservatorship lawyers can work with individuals and families who are seeking a court-appointed conservator or guardian for an family member, as well as individuals who are subject to a conservatorship but wish to have the oversight terminated.
