Subprime & Mortgage Markets
Greenberg Traurig’s Subprime and Mortgage Markets Group focuses on current trends in mortgage markets and works across practice groups and locations to provide innovative legal strategies for clients with exposure to the subprime market and mortgage markets generally. The multidisciplinary group brings together attorneys from the firm’s national Structured Finance, Litigation, Business Reorganization & Bankruptcy, Governmental Affairs and Real Estate Practices.
Our attorneys serve clients who seek to evaluate and maximize their investments in the subprime and mortgage space, gauge litigation risk and respond to litigation matters, and modify investment strategies as regulations evolve. We have wide-ranging experience drafting and negotiating securitization agreements, as well as litigating the lender liability, common law and securities claims that are the basis for the current lawsuits now inundating these markets. In addition, our Business Reorganization & Bankruptcy attorneys have particular substantial experience with the bankruptcy process, how that process affects assets in the mortgage markets space and how to maximize the value in those assets.
Members of the group include a former state attorney general, a former chief of consumer protection for a state attorney general, members of GT’s Governmental Affairs Practice and a number of attorneys with significant and diverse experience in matters related to the subprime market. Our firsthand experience enables us to provide insight into pending legislation and the subprime regulatory landscape. Our team is well versed in, and able to advise on, the issues currently being considered by state and federal legislators, as well as the National Association of Attorneys General.
