Jones Walker
LLP and The Sullivan Group, formed a strategic alliance between the
two firms in 2011.
The alliance
enhances the two firms' ability and effectiveness in energy policy in Gulf
South states as well as nationally. The agreement between the two
firms was effective January 1, 2011.
Jim Sullivan
is the former President of the Alabama Public Service Commission (PSC), where
he served from 1983 until his retirement in 2008. While with the Alabama PSC,
Mr. Sullivan implemented and refined new regulatory processes (rate
stabilization and equalization), and the agency rated nationally among the best
state regulatory agencies during his tenure.
Jim Sullivan
is an experienced government professional who served the state of Alabama
admirably. His national reputation as an energy regulator and expert in nuclear
power is unprecedented. He has a deep understanding of the workings of the
energy regulatory agencies and gives the law firm and its clients a
very experienced counselor on energy policy issues.
As a result of
his years serving on the Alabama PSC and his service as President of the
National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners, Mr.
Sullivan provides experience that few can match in the energy area.
Mr. Sullivan
opened The Sullivan Group, following his retirement from the Alabama PSC, to
provide guidance to power companies, energy providers, and large consumers of
energy on a variety of energy policy matters.
This strategic
alliance expands the services both firms are able to offer to their
respective clients, and the culture between the two firms is a great fit.
Together, the firms can provide even better counsel to clients across the
Gulf South and nationally at a time of great turmoil in the energy industry.
Jones Walker has deep and broad experience with the critical issues
facing the Gulf states and the region in this area, and providing our
clients with guidance on their energy policy is more critical than ever, given
the legislative and regulatory challenges they face in Washington.
