International Trade

International trade between the United States and other countries, as well as U.S.-based companies and foreign businesses, is governed by a number of organizations and agreements. These include the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the U.S.'s International Trade Administration (ITA), as well as trade agreements such as the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT). International trade attorneys can work with businesses to ensure compliance with international trade laws. Lawyers at international trade law firms can also assist with issues related to customs laws, foreign direct investment, civil enforcement proceedings, intellectual property disputes, embargos and trade sanctions.
