Jones Act

The Merchant Marine Act of 1920, more commonly known as the Jones Act, regulates maritime commerce for ships that are in U.S. ports and waters. Because maritime workers are not covered by state workers' compensation laws, the act also allows ship employees collect benefits if they are injured as a result of the negligence of the boat's owner and/or other crew members. Jones Act attorneys can assist crew members who need to make seamen's claims as a result of injuries they've suffered in the course of their jobs. If you've been injured while working on a ship, talk to a personal injury attorney or lawyer with experience handling Jones Act claims as quickly as possible. The sooner you speak with a law firm, the sooner you can initiate the claims process and collect the benefits you deserve.
