Military Law

Members of the military, including the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corp and Coast Guard, are governed by the Uniform Code of Military Justice, or UCMJ. This military legal system addresses issues related to criminal matters, including court-martials, discharges, the release of military records and litigation. If you are a member of the military and have been accused of a crime, it's critical to hire a law firm or attorneys with experience in military law. Your lawyer will have experience representing members of the military before military courts and boards, and will understand the applicable processes, procedures and laws. Many but not all lawyers who practice military law will have previously served in the Judge Advocate General's (JAG) Corps.
