Calcagni & Kanefsky, LLP is a Newark- and New York-based litigation and investigations boutique launched in April 2014 by Tom Calcagni and Eric Kanefsky, whose careers began as prosecutors at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, where they tried false-claims, healthcare-fraud, complex-fraud, and corruption cases. The pair went on to serve successive terms as Directors of New Jersey’s Division of Consumer Affairs—each appointed by the governor and confirmed by the Senate—leading a 600-person agency that regulates securities and healthcare professionals and brings consumer-fraud prosecutions. Tom later became New Jersey’s First Assistant Attorney General, supervising the State Police, Insurance Fraud Prosecutor’s Office, and multiple public-safety divisions. Drawing on their federal and state enforcement insights, they built a modern firm now staffed by over twenty former prosecutors, regulators, and trial lawyers who leverage unparalleled government and courtroom experience to protect and advise clients in high-stakes matters.
