About this firm

This firm was founded by Ralph R. Bouma, Jr. and John P. Martin in the fall of 1980 when they established their offices in Wheaton, Illinois. At that time, the practice was concentrated principally in the area of employee benefits, estate and tax planning and real estate. In 1983, James M. Charlton joined the firm as a litigation partner and Eric J. Lieberman joined the firm as a transactional partner. The firm name was changed to Bouma, Martin, Charlton & Lieberman. The firm continued to add attorneys and staff and moved to larger offices in Glen Ellyn, Illinois in 1984. James M. Huck, Jr. joined the firm as a transactional partner in 1988 and the firm name was changed to Huck, Bouma, Martin & Charlton. The firm continued its rapid growth in the late 1980's and early 1990's offering additional depth in the areas of income and estate tax planning for closely held corporations and highly compensated individuals, residential and commercial real estate development and financing, health law and intellectual property law.

The rapid growth necessitated the acquisition of new office space in a new office building in Wheaton, Illinois in 1993. George M. Bradshaw joined the firm as a transactional partner in 1994 and the firm name was changed to Huck, Bouma, Martin, Charlton & Bradshaw. Robert E. Jones joined the firm as a litigation partner in 1999 when James M. Charlton left the firm to pursue a non-legal career at which time the firm's litigation group was substantially expanded. The firm, under its present name, Huck Bouma PC, is staffed with 27 attorneys, 7 of counsel and 22 support staff, making it one of the largest firms in the DuPage County/Kane County area.

Through its five practice groups, the firm offers prompt, cost effective legal services in the areas of income and estate planning, corporate banking and business transactions, residential and commercial real estate transactions and civil litigation.
