The firm is the direct successor to a partnership established in 1899 by George Edmondson Maddox and Colonel William S. McHenry. Over the years, attorneys who had been partners and associates of the firm have served in various capacities in the judicial, legislative, and executive branches of the State of Georgia and the United States and as members of the Georgia Board of Bar Examiners. Attorneys presently in the firm concentrate in various areas of the law, enabling it to offer a wide range of legal services to its clients. In 1999 the firm opened an office in Cedartown, with Michael D. McRae and Robert T. Monroe as its resident attorneys, to expand the geographical base of its practice.
