Members of the legal community both locally and nationally have demonstrated their respect for his professional contributions, naming him one of the "Pennsylvania Super Lawyers" and as one of the "Best Lawyers in America," as well as awarding him Martindale-Hubbell's highest rating for legal ability and general ethical standards. Mr. McClelland was elected to the Allegheny Academy of Trial Lawyers and he serves on the board of governors for the Pennsylvania Association for Justice. He is an adjunct professor of law at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law where he teaches "Trial tactics," and is called upon frequently by both the legal and medical communities to lecture concerning the topics of medical malpractice and personal injury. As a Pittsburgh medical malpractice attorney, Mr. McClelland has often appeared on local and national television to discuss legal and medical-legal topics of the day.
