Restraining Orders in Roanoke, VA

A restraining order is a legal injunction that either prohibits one party from doing something or requires one party to do something. Sometimes known as an order of protection or a peace bond, restraining orders are often used in connection with domestic violence, stalking, physical abuse, harassment or exploitation. Temporary restraining orders (TRO) are intended to serve as short stop-gap measures until a full court hearing is held. If you fear for your personal safety, talk to a restraining order lawyer or family law attorney for help obtaining a TRO. Because a restraining order can seriously limit your activities, you should also seek the counsel of a law firm if someone else tries to take out a restraining order against you.
