Casey R. Young is a highly experienced trial attorney with over 100 jury trials to verdict. She practices in the Raleigh office of Cranfill Sumner LLP, where her work focuses on medical malpractice and premises liability litigation, with a particular emphasis on representing retail, restaurant, and hospitality clients. Casey also has experience advising businesses on North Carolina’s dram shop laws and liquor licensing matters before the North Carolina Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Commission.
In her premises liability practice, Casey enjoys partnering with businesses to help them proactively navigate risk management issues, evaluate potential exposure, and respond strategically when claims arise. Her practical approach is informed by an understanding of daytoday business operations and the challenges faced by both small local businesses and large corporate entities.
Casey also represents professionals in professional liability matters, including assisting clients in navigating complaints and disciplinary proceedings before various regulatory and licensing boards. In her medical malpractice practice, she works closely with physicians, healthcare providers, and healthcare systems to evaluate risk, defend claims, and implement strategies to mitigate exposure once an adverse event or allegation has occurred.
Before joining Cranfill Sumner, Casey served as an Assistant District Attorney at the Wake County District Attorney’s Office for over 13 years. During her tenure, she prosecuted a wide range of violent crimes, including numerous homicides, and spent several years in the Special Victims Unit. Her experience as a former prosecutor honed her ability to analyze cases in detail, anticipate opposing arguments, and plan thoughtful, strategic responses. She also mentored new assistant district attorneys, helping guide them through courtroom advocacy and case preparation.
Casey is known for her thoughtful, thorough, and strategic approach to client service. She values clear communication, careful preparation, and practical problemsolving, and she is committed to helping clients make informed decisions at every stage of litigation.
Casey earned her J.D. from Campbell University School of Law in 2011 and her B.S. in Criminal Justice from the University of South Carolina in 2007.
Outside of her professional life, Casey enjoys spending time with her family and friends, watching sports, and traveling internationally whenever possible.
